Enchylaena tomentosa (Ruby Saltbush)

Prostrate, spreading or erect shrub to 1.5m high, branchlets shallowly grooved. Found in all mainland states. Widespread in the north and north-west of Victoria where occurring in mallee scrub, in woodlands on heavy alluvial soils and on disturbed sites, occasional along the coast (eg. Otway coast, Mallacoota, Lady Julia Percy Isalnd) usually amongst rocks and in rain-shadow areas to the north and west of Melbourne (You Yangs, Bacchus Marsh, Sunbury areas). Fruits mainly September-April.
