Return of the Pearl Bluebush

In 2013 the Neds Corner Station team collected a large amount of seed off a Pearl Bluebush (Maireana sedifolia) plant, to go into a large area direct seeded as part of the Caring for our Country project that has now finished.

The leftover seed was hand-thrown by Peter Barnes over 55 hactares amongst self germinating pines (Calitris gracilis). After the rains that started in February, the plants have started to grow and the result in the photo below of the large patch of Bluebush, is very pleasing.
